Gamers, get ready! Microsoft has officially declared Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the very first Halo game — Halo: Combat Evolved. The big surprise? For the first time ever, the legendary Xbox game will also be coming to PlayStation 5, along with Xbox Series S/X and PC in 2026.
A Classic Reborn
The remake, revealed at the Halo World Championship 2025, will completely rebuild the original campaign using Unreal Engine 5, bringing breathtaking 4K graphics, smoother animations, and realistic lighting. Players will once again step into the shoes of Master Chief, but this time with modern graphics and enhanced gameplay.
The developers, now known just as Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries), shared a 13-minute gameplay demo and trailer showing the new features and design.
New Features and Gameplay Enhancements
Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t just a visual remake — it’s a full reimagining of the 2001 classic. The campaign will include:
- Three brand-new missions that expand the unique story
- Remastered music and re-recorded voice lines for better audio quality
- Nine new weapons from other Halo games, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle
- The ability to hijack vehicles and pilot the Covenant Wraith tank for the main time
- An optional sprint mechanic for faster movement
For multiplayer fans, the game will support two-player local split screen and, for the first time, up to four-player online co-op across Xbox, PC, and PS5.

Microsoft has been shifting toward a multiplatform strategy, releasing titles like Forza and Gears of War on PlayStation. Now, Halo — the series that helped make Xbox famous back in 2001 — will finally join that lineup.
