Tech Company Qualcomm has just made a big move! On Monday, it introduced two brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) chips that will be used in data centers—big computer hubs that store and process tons of information. These new chips, called AI200 and AI250, will be available in 2026 and 2027. The news made Qualcomm’s share value jump by 20%, showing that people are very excited about this new stage.

Why Qualcomm Is Making AI Chips

For a long time, Qualcomm has been known for making smartphone chips—tiny parts that help mobiles connect to the internet and run efficiently. But the smartphone market has slowed down, and Qualcomm wants to grow in other areas. That’s why the company is now focusing on AI and data centers, where computers help create cool tools like chatbots, virtual assistants, and large language replicas (like me!).

    How the New Chips Help

The AI200 and AI250 chips are designed to be faster and more powerful, with better memory and energy efficiency. They will help companies run AI programs that can think, learn, and answer quickly—something that needs a lot of calculating power. Qualcomm also said its chips will work well with common AI software and tools, making it easier for businesses to use them.

To make things even better, Qualcomm presented AI racks—big systems filled with these chips. These racks will help companies save money and space when building large AI centers. This puts Qualcomm in competition with other tech giants like Nvidia and AMD, which are already leaders in AI technology.

A Big Deal With Saudi Arabia

Qualcomm’s first big AI project will be with Humain, a new AI company maintained by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. Humain plans to use 200 megawatts of Qualcomm’s AI racks starting in 2026. Experts say this deal shows that the global AI world is expanding fast, and no single firm can switch it all.

    Looking Ahead

Qualcomm is clearly changing. After losing some major phone clients like Huawei and facing competition from Apple’s own chips, it’s now incoming new markets like personal computers and AI. This bold move into data centers could help Qualcomm grow into one of the big players in the AI industry—proving that it’s not just a mobile chip business anymore.
