Google is working on a new feature that could make using multiple apps on Android tablets a lot smoother and more fun! According to reports, the company is testing something called “app bubbling”, which will allow users to open apps in small floating windows — making multitasking cooler than ever before.

    What Is App Bubbling?

The new feature was exposed in the latest Android Canary 2510 build. It will let tablet users drag an app’s icon from the bottom corner of the screen to turn it into a floating “bubble”. This bubble works just like a mini version of the app that can hover above others, so users can use two or more apps at the same time.

For example, you could watch a YouTube video while chatting with friends or inspection your notes — all on one screen!

When users try this feature for the first time, a tutorial animation will appear, showing them exactly how to drag an app icon to the corner to make it float.

    How It Improves Android Multitasking

Android tablets already support split-screen multitasking, where you can open two apps side by side. But this new bubbling system makes things even more bendable. Instead of being stuck in a split view, you’ll be able to move app bubbles anywhere on the screen, making multitasking more natural and convenient.

Previously, Android only allowed messaging apps (like chat bubbles) to float on the screen. But now, Google is planning to extend this idea to all kinds of apps, giving users more control and freedom when switching between everyday jobs.

    When Could It Launch?

While Google hasn’t officially confirmed a release date yet, the presence of tutorial simulations and finished design hints that the feature is almost ready.

According to reports, Google might roll out the app bubbling feature with Android 16’s first Quarterly Platform Release (QPR1) in 2026, or possibly with Android 17 if trying continues longer.

    Why It Matters

This update shows Google’s growing focus on making Android tablets more powerful and user-friendly, especially as tablets are increasingly used for work and entertainment. The app bubbling feature could make Android tablets feel more like laptops — perfect for persons who love multitasking!

So, if you enjoy using your tablet for work, play, and all in between, keep an eye out — Google’s new app bubbling feature could soon change the way you multitask forever.
