Have you ever been reading a long article online and wished someone could just tell you the main points quickly? Well, Google just made that possible with a new update to its smart assistant, Gemini, on Chrome for Android! Let’s see what’s new and why everybody is cheerful about it.
What Is Gemini?
Gemini is Google’s super-smart AI assistant that helps people understand and summarize information. Earlier, Gemini could only look at the part of a webpage that was evident on your screen. But now, thanks to a big update, it can read and understand the entire webpage—not just what you see!
What’s New in the Update?
In the latest update, Google added a special “Summarize Page” switch inside the Gemini overlay on Chrome for Android. This switch helps users get a quick, clear summary of any webpage they’re viewing.
When you tap on it, Gemini shows a message saying “Submitting the page,” and then—voila!—a summary pops up in a small floating gap. You can read it, expand it for more details, or even ask follow-up questions about the page. Gemini can also read the summary aloud if you prefer attending!
How It Works
This amazing new feature is powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash, a fast version of Google’s AI that makes everything smooth and fast. Even if you have Gemini 2.5 Pro, the summaries still use Flash to keep performance the same for everyone.
The “Summarize Page” button shows up right above the glowing Gemini bar, between “Share Screen with Live” and “Ask About Page.” So it’s easy to find and use deprived of leaving your browser.
Where You Can Use It
You can use this shortcut when you’re browsing webpages in Chrome, or even in Chrome Custom Tabs—like when impression Google Search results, Discover stories, or Google News articles.
Before this update, users had to copy and paste webpage links into Gemini or Google Assistant to get a summary. But now, all happens right inside Chrome—no extra steps needed!
Why it’s Awesome
This update makes browsing easier and smoother. Whether you’re reading news, studying, or just curious, Gemini’s instant extractions help you save time and understand info better.
So next time you open Chrome on your Android phone, look for the new Summarize Page button—and let Gemini do the analyze for you!
