    • In both nations, big rivers are full and crossing danger stages.
    • Authorities in India had to release water from dams to stop them from breaking.
    • But this extra water is flowing into Pakistan, making the floods worse there too.
    • In fact, India has sent seven warnings to Pakistan about releasing dam water.

Destruction in Punjab (India & Pakistan)

The states of Punjab in both India and Pakistan are badly affected

    • Indian Punjab:
      • 37 people have died since August.
      • Crops on tens of thousands of hectares have been damaged.
      • The state government declared ₹710 million ($8 million) in relief.
    • Pakistani Punjab:
      • About 1.8 million people have been evacuated.
      • Nearly 3,900 villages are under water.
      • Authorities may even break the Chenab riverbank near Multan to save the historic city by letting water flow outside.

    Delhi Overflows

In India’s capital Delhi, the Yamuna River is at a dangerous level.

    • Water has entered low-lying homes.
    • Thousands of people have been moved to safer places.
    • The famous Loha Pul (Iron Bridge) had to be closed.
    • Near the Red Fort, people were seen walking in floodwater, some carrying Lord Ganesha idols for rituals.

    Jammu & Kashmir Condition

In the Jammu and Kashmir region:

    • The Jhelum river dam broke, flooding parts of Srinagar.
    • Around 9,000 people were evacuated in Budgam district.
    • The Chief Minister said the river is rising slowly but still dangerous, and the government is keeping a close watch.
    • In Drabshalla, a landslide hit the Ratle hydroelectric power project on the Chenab River, and rescuers are still searching for stuck peoples.

    Deaths and Destruction

    • Pakistan: About 880 people have died in this year’s monsoon floods.
    • India: Nearly 150 people lost their lives in August only.
    • Crops, homes, bridges, and roads have been damaged across both nations.

    Weather Prediction

    • India: Weather experts say the heavy rain may ease soon, with only moderate showers in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
    • Pakistan: Officials warn the rain will likely continue till September 9.

    Final Point of view
