Perplexity, a tech company, has made its AI-powered Comet browser available to all users for free. Earlier, only people with special invitations or a Perplexity Max subscription could use it. Now, anybody can download and explore it on Windows and Mac, and mobile apps are being developed too.
What Makes Comet Browser Different?
The Comet browser is not like regular browsers. It comes with a smart AI assistant built into a sidebar. This assistant can:

- Analyze multiple pages at once
- Perform tasks like booking conferences or shopping online
The AI assistant can be turned on with a click on the toolbar control. Once it’s active, it can appreciate all your open tabs and help you find what you need.
How the AI Assistant Works
For example:

During a test, the assistant even helped a user find a 43-inch smart TV at the lowest price and took them straight to the checkout page.
Of course, some tasks require extra information, like:

- Credit card info
If you don’t want to share your card, the assistant will still take you to the checkout page and guide you through manual expense.
How It Searches
Comet uses the same search engine as Perplexity’s platform, so any query you type in the URL bar shows results in the familiar Perplexity style. This makes searching fast, simple, and easy to understand.

The news was shared by Aravind Srinivas, the CEO of Perplexity and India’s youngest billionaire, on X (formerly Twitter). The browser first launched in July and was exclusive to certain customers, but now it’s open to everyone.
