According to reports, the phone may feature a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch cover screen, along with support for 25W wireless charging. The company could position it as a competitor to a rumoured foldable iPhone.
Design Hints Found in One UI 9 Animations
Animations discovered in the One UI 9 APK by Android Authority and Telegram user @wr3ckl3ss show the phone opening and closing. These visuals suggest a wider aspect ratio and give a clearer idea of its appearance. Both the outer and inner displays appear to include a selfie camera cutout, similar to the design language of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The inner screen also looks larger than before.
The animations are reportedly linked to the internal codename H8, associated with model number SM-F971U, which could correspond to the Wide Galaxy Z Fold. They appear in both light and dark themes, indicating Samsung may be preparing for a launch.
Launch Timeline and Expected Competition
Reports suggest the Wide Galaxy Z Fold could debut in July or August alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Samsung is said to be planning production of around one million units. The device is expected to compete directly with Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is rumoured to arrive in September.
