Wispr Flow Launches Android App for AI Voice Dictation

AI-based dictation startup Wispr Flow has officially released its Android application. The company first introduced its software on Mac and Windows, followed by an iOS version in June 2025. With the Android launch, Wispr Flow has now expanded its reach to a wider group of users.

On iOS, users accessed the service through a dedicated keyboard integration, while the Android version offers a slightly different experience. It uses a floating bubble interface that lets users instantly dictate text by speaking. Users can hold the bubble to start speaking or tap once to begin recording and tap again to stop. Like other platforms, the app not only converts speech into text but also removes filler words and automatically formats the text based on the app and context in use.

According to Wispr Flow co-founder and CEO Tanay Kothari, “Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we had always imagined. When the platform stops getting in the way, voice typing can truly replace typing on mobile devices.”

Faster System and Multi-Language Support

The Android app supports translation in more than 100 languages and works across multiple applications. Along with the launch, the company upgraded its infrastructure, making dictation about 30 percent faster than before.

While many AI dictation apps are available on desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow is still among the limited options on Android. Recently, Typeless also launched its app for the platform.

Hinglish Model for Indian Users

With the Android release, Wispr Flow also introduced a special voice model for Hinglish. Hinglish is a mix of Hindi and English commonly used in everyday conversations in India.

Kothari explained that the model reflects real communication habits. He said that English and Hindi naturally blend during conversations with family and colleagues, so the company created a model that properly supports Hinglish transcription instead of forcing traditional Hindi script.

According to the company, even during the early rollout to a limited group of users, engagement was strong. Within just a few days, users dictated more than 1.3 million English words.

Strong Investor Support

Wispr Flow has quickly gained recognition in the AI dictation space and attracted significant investment. In June, the company raised $30 million in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures. A few months later, in November, it secured an additional $25 million in funding led by Notable Capital.

So far, Wispr Flow has raised a total of $81 million, and according to sources, the company’s latest valuation stands at approximately $700 million.
