EA Might Be Sold for $50 Billion!

Big news in the gaming world! The business Electronic Arts (EA), which makes super popular games like Battlefield and EA Sports FC (FIFA), might be sold for a huge $50 billion (that’s a LOT of money). Reports say EA could soon become a private company if the deal drives through.

Who Wants to Buy EA?

EA is said to be in advanced talks with big investors, including:

  • Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF)
  • Silver Lake, a private-equity firm
  • Affinity Partners, owned by Jared Kushner (son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump)

If the deal happens, it will be one of the biggest buyouts in gaming past!

EA’s Stock is rising

Right after this news came out, EA’s stock price went up by 15% to about $193 per share. The company’s value is now around $48 billion, showing that stockholders are really interested.

PIF Loves Gaming Too

Saudi Arabia’s PIF already capitalizes in lots of video game companies, like:

  • Nintendo
  • Capcom
  • Take-Two Interactive (the makers of GTA)

PIF also owns Savvy Games Group, which bought parts of Pokémon Go creator Niantic for $3.5 billion earlier this year.

EA’s Strong Gaming Year

EA is doing really well in 2026:

  • They earned $1.298 billion in the first quarter alone.
  • They launched EA Sports FC 26 (the football game) on September 26.
  • They are about to issue the much-awaited Battlefield 6 next month.

The company expects to make $7.6 to $8 billion this year in total bookings.

One of the Biggest Gaming Deals Ever

If this deal happens, it will be the second-largest gaming deal ever, just behind Microsoft’s $75 billion purchase of Activision-Blizzard in 2023.

Other big gaming deals in recent years include:

  • Take-Two buying Zynga for $12.7 billion (2022)
  • Microsoft buying Bethesda/ZeniMax for $7.5 billion (2021)
  • PIF’s Savvy Games buying Scopely for $4.9 billion (2023)

Point of view

The gaming world is changing fast, with giant companies merging and buying each other. If EA really gets sold, it will be a historic moment for gamers everywhere. Whether you love football games or shooters like Battlefield, this deal could shape the future of EA’s games.
