Apple is working on something very exciting — its first foldable iPhone! According to reports, this new phone might be released next year along with the iPhone 18 series. What makes it even more special is its new frame made from titanium and aluminium, which makes it both light and solid.
A Foldable iPhone With a Super Strong Frame
A tech expert named Jeff Pu shared that Apple plans to use a mix of titanium and aluminium for the frame of the foldable iPhone. These metals are known for being tough and lightweight, which means the phone will be tough but easy to carry.
Apple will also use the same materials in alternative model called the iPhone 18 Air. Titanium is already used in the latest iPhone Pro models, and it helps make the phones look stylish and premium texture.
Another expert, Ming-Chi Kuo, mentioned earlier that the phone’s hinge (the part that folds) might be made of stainless steel and titanium, making it smooth and enduring.
Design and Display Details
The new foldable iPhone will open like a book, revealing a big 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen when folded. That means you can use it like a normal phone when closed, and like a tablet when opened — giving you the best of both worlds.
It’s also expected to be 9.2mm thick when folded and only 4.6mm when opened, making it slim and futuristic. The phone will likely have two cameras on the back for taking high-quality snaps and videos.
Price and Launch Date
The foldable iPhone is rumoured to launch in September 2026 as part of the iPhone 18 lineup. Reports say it might cost around $1,999 (about ₹1,74,000), creation it one of Apple’s most premium devices always.
Why It’s a Big Deal
Apple’s entry into the foldable phone market is big news. Businesses like Samsung have been leading this area for years, but now Apple is ready to join the competition. By using titanium and aluminium, Apple hopes to make its foldable iPhone durable, lightweight, and durable, giving users a futuristic involvement.
